 In the 2017 assembly elections, the RLD's only MLA was elected from Chhaprauli constituency, which later joined the BJP.  At the same time, the BJP, which won 325 seats against the RLD, has captured the legacy of the BJP and his grandfather.  The SP's command is now entirely in the hands of Mulayam Singh's son Akhilesh Yadav.  At the same time, due to the Modi wave, Chaudhary Ajit Singh and Jayant Chaudhary could not get elected MPs from their stronghold for the last two Lok Sabha elections.  In such a situation, reviving RLD will be Jayant Chaudhary's first major litmus test.
