Abernews.Chennai: M Manikandan, a minister during the tenure of the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu, was arrested from Bengaluru on Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting an actress.  Police said Manikandan, who was the Minister of Information and Broadcasting during the AIADMK regime, was arrested by a special team in the Karnataka capital.  Police brought the accused to Chennai after arresting him and after interrogation he was produced before a court from where the former minister was sent to judicial custody till July 2.  A few days back, the Madras High Court had rejected Manikandan's anticipatory bail plea.  In her complaint against the former minister on May 28, the aggrieved woman had alleged that she had promised marriage by divorcing her, relying on which the victim was living in a live-in relationship with Manikandan for the last five years.  .  The victim also has Malaysian citizenship.  The victim had accused Manikandan of forcibly having sex and forcing her to abort thrice when she became pregnant.
