Abernews New Delhi: After the first expansion and restructuring in the Modi cabinet, the first meeting of the new cabinet and the Council of Ministers will be held this evening.  According to official sources, the first meeting of the new and old cabinet ministers will be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 5 pm today.  Two hours after this, there will be a meeting of the Council of Ministers at 7 pm.  Prime Minister Modi will first hold talks with the cabinet ministers and then with the entire council of ministers about the functioning of the government.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi can take important decisions in this first meeting with the new ministers.

 43 new ministers took oath
Significantly, as per the pre-scheduled schedule, the cabinet meeting was to be held at 11 am on Wednesday, but it was postponed due to cabinet expansion and reorganization.  Let us tell you that after the Modi government came to power for the second time in 2019, this type of exercise has happened for the first time, when the cabinet has been expanded and reshuffled.  On Wednesday evening 43 new ministers were sworn in, including 15 cabinet ministers and 28 ministers of state.  With this, the number of ministers in the cabinet has increased to 77.  After the cabinet expansion, Modi tweeted and congratulated the new colleagues and also wished them good luck for their tenure.

 Promotion of many ministers
During the cabinet expansion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted many ministers.  PM Modi has appointed Mansukh Mandaviya as Health Minister, Kiren Rijiju as Law Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan as Education Minister and Jyotiraditya Scindia as Civil Aviation Minister.  36 new faces have been included in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's council of ministers, while seven current ministers of state have been promoted and included in the cabinet.  Eight new faces were also given the status of cabinet ministers.  President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to all 43 members included in the Council of Ministers in a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.  The portfolios of all these ministers have also been divided.
