abernews Raipur.  Bharatiya Janata Party's state spokesperson Sanjay Srivastava has described the agitation by the Congress regarding the prices of petrol and diesel as a futile political hypocrisy.  Shri Srivastava said that with what face the state government and Congress, which was grabbing thousands of crores of rupees from VAT tax of petrol and diesel as their share, instead of providing relief to the people of the state on their behalf, are protesting.

 Shri Srivastava said that in the last five months, the State Government has earned Rs 2,829 crore from GST and Rs 3,796 crore from petrol, diesel and liquor.  Out of this, Rs 2,106 crore has been received by the state government only from petrol-diesel and air traffic fuel.  The state government also gets back 42 per cent of the earnings from the central government's share.  Shri Srivastava said that even after earning so much, why is the state government limited to protest on inflation instead of taking initiative to provide relief to the people of the state by cutting its share of tax earnings?  Shri Srivastava informed that the previous state government of BJP had done the work of providing relief of Rs 2.5 per liter to the people by cutting the tax of its state's share in the year 2018, but Congress leaders and leaders were ousted from power on the issue of inflation.  As soon as his government was formed in the state, he worked to take back this relief.

 Shri Srivastava said that today Congress is only bawling about the prices of petrol and diesel.

 It is a matter of great misfortune that after coming to power, instead of working in the Congress government of the state, they have given priority to protests, demonstrations and unnecessary disputes with the Center.  Didn't either.
